  2. I have friends whose cousin is getting married in the Caribbean and they were wondering if they should fly today...I haven't heard yet but I'm thinking (hoping) they decided to STAY HERE~! Talk about a conundrum.....the couple getting married are there already, many guests were flying down. Imagine?
    Good luck to Florida!

    2. IMP, I will trade places with you. Well if the eye remains at least 50 miles away from you, you will only get tropical storm level winds. A Toast to you and yours. I assume you are staying.

    1. DaBlade, I sure would if I could. Take a little vacation in a nice resort or even good hotel until this thing passes.

  6. I'm in Tampa and I'm anxious about Irma. I can't imagine how the people in South Florida are feeling right now. This is the biggest storm I've ever seen...

    1. Cube, they are saying of course, that this is the biggest Atlantic storm on record. Best to you and yours.

    2. Thanks, Kid. I look at the weather maps and it looks like a monster with it's perfect eye. The size alone gives me the creeps, not to mention its strength.

I'm glad my husband had the foresight to use 3/4" plywood instead of the usual 1/2" when we had our roof replaced. Of course with sustained winds of 185 mph it doesn't mean much.

We Floridians are used to preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. This Irma is unnerving even the saltiest among us.

  7. I've had this pic on my phone home page for several years.
The reaction from others -is- wow.
Harvey, was a tropical depression right until it hit land, then upped to a Cat 1.
Bounced out and sat offshore for a short time and jumped to a Cat 4. Then moved inland.
A high pressure to the North kept it stationary for days; and then moved back down to the Gulf.
Harvey was proposed to hit Corpus Christy- but after stalled before landfall moved northeast to Rockport, East of Corpus, then back out to the Gulf.
Then bounced in and out - and straight toward Houston.
Diminishing back to a Tropical Storm.
Aside from the High Pressure Stationary North of Houston, a High Pressure South in the Gulf around New Orleans and Southwards-kept Harvey sandwiched localized SouthEast TEX! And you all heard the outcome - that is what Happened in Allison's dump on Houston around 2,000.
I have read the Fake News on AOW's commenters- about how we had 12 days to run for the Hills. Not TRUE. And bytheway we don't run from every Tropical Depression/Tropical Storm!
Imp and others are in for a RIDE from the High Winds-but this Irma should blow right through--not sit on Florida like what happened here. Hold On.
I drove out for Rita and got stuck in a 60 mile parking lot. This time there would have been many drowned in their cars along the Hwy- The Mayor of Houston made the Right Call this time - not like the DUMB Mayor's call during Rita.
It is up to the People in South Florida the sit in Massive Parking Lot or stay home and pucker up their butt cheeks.
